Nothing will rival Samsung tomorrow with a blockbuster Android upgrade

‌Samsung will have even more competition from tomorrow afternoon with fledgling smartphone firm Nothing launching its next and massively upgraded Android-powered device. The Phone (2) is officially being revealed during a major event in London and we already know what’s going to be tucked under the hood of this device.

Nothing has decided to boost the power in its new smartphone with owners being treated to a much more premium Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor from Qualcomm.

Although that 2021 chip isn’t the latest and greatest brains (that accolade goes to the 8 Gen 2 which was revealed last year) it is still way more powerful than the Snapdragon 778G that was found in the Nothing Phone (1). The inclusion of the 8 Gen 1 will not only make this latest call maker a bit quicker but should also improve the efficiency of the device – that means longer battery life and more time between charging.

Along with those upgraded brains, we also know that the Phone (2) will get a boost to its unique Glyph Interface which is tucked under the see-through rear panel.

For those not aware, the Glyph Interface lights up and flickers depending on when texts or calls are received. It basically means you can see if someone is attempting to contact when the screen is face-down on your desk. You can even tap the rear case to see how how battery life is left in the tank.

On the 2023 model, Nothing has confirmed that it has joined forces with the house music supergroup, Swedish House Mafia, to compose an exclusive Glyph Sound Pack.

Plus there’s a new Glyph Composer which lets users personalise and remix Swedish House Mafia’s custom sounds. Owners will be able to tap each pad on the screen to trigger different light and sound combinations to compose their own Glyph Ringtone.

Other features found on the Phone (2) look set to include fast refilling, a dual-lens camera plus Nothing’s unique take on Google’s Android operating system.

Full details about the Nothing Phone (2) will be revealed later tomorrow, July 11, so watch this space for more information, pricing and a release date.
