Odisha universities, degree colleges to resume online classes from June 1 – Times of India
Along with physical classroom teaching, the department had asked the institutions not to hold online classes and examinations during the summer vacation. But it had allowed conducting interviews for PhD courses and other research scholars on scheduled dates during the vacation.
The department on Saturday allowed the higher educational institutions to start online classes after end of summer vacation. However, physical classroom teaching will not commence now in view of rising Covid-19 cases in the state. It has also stated that hostels will remain closed till further order.
On April 16, the higher education department had issued detailed guidelines for degree colleges and universities regarding suspension of physical classes and examinations in view of Covid-19. It had directed the higher educational institutions to hold classes in online mode to complete the syllabus in time.
Examinations and physical classes (both theory and practical) were suspended with effect from April 19. Hostels were closed down and the boarders had vacated the hostels after this order then. It had stated that revised examination schedule will be communicated later on after consulting with vice-chancellors and principals. But no examination schedule is finalised yet.
The department on Saturday said schedule of examination will be communicated soon after getting information about the decision of university grants commission (UGC).
Students are worried to know about schedule of their examinations. Many of them want to know the mode of examinations. “We are really very confused about mode of our semester examinations. We do not know whether it will be conducted via online or offline mode. The authorities should inform us as soon as possible,” said a student Antarjyami Behera in a tweet.
