OnePlus resumes Android 12 beta rollout support for the OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro – Times of India

Chinese smartphone brand OnePlus has resumed the Android 12 beta rollout for its recently launched flagship smartphone series — OnePlus 9.
The company had initially announced the support for same on the day of Google I/O 2021. However, later it had pulled the plug on that as several users had complained of bricking after updating to Android 12.
Now, the company has again resumed the Developer Preview build for the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro handsets.
“After careful testing and verification, we’re releasing a new Developer Preview for the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. This new version is a hotfix build that fixes the issue that caused the original version to get stuck during Factory Reset Protection (FRP) check,” said the company in a forum post.
Along with announcing the new beta firmware, OnePlus has also listed the known issues with the firmware. Below is a list.
* All data will be cleared while flashing the build.
* The video call function is not available.
* Fingerprint unlock and face unlock are unavailable.
* Certain UI screens look less than desirable.
* Some apps may not function as expected.
* System stability issues.
* Probability of camera crash when HDR mode enabled.
The company has further cautioned those who may want to install the update that they still have a risk of bricking their phone and they should “read the instructions carefully and be 100% sure of what you are doing.”
While updating their phones, users need to ensure that their OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro handsets are at above 30% battery level and have a minimum 3GB of storage space is available.
