OnePlus stops back Android 12 beta links after user complaints – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Google recently released the Android 12 public beta 1. After the announcement, OnePlus released the Android 12 beta 1 for its OnePlus 9 Pro and OnePlus 9.
The company announced the rollout along with all the details on how to download and install the latest beta on your smartphone. However, the company pulled back the beta links after users complained of bricking.
A OnePlus staff member took to the OnePlus forum and commented that the company has temporarily removed the Android 12 beta 1 download links. The company took this decision after user feedback. The staff member added, “I’m sharing the feedback with the software team so they can look into it in the morning at HQ.”
In case you have installed the update, then there is also a fix. Max Weinbach of Android Police has detailed a fix if you are also facing the bricking issue on your smartphone. He mentioned that users can opt for EDL restore which means restoring the phone with a factory image with the help of Qualcomm chipset-level flash.
Weinbach also mentioned that XDA developers have shared a guide on how to restore using EDL, so you can take help from there. XDA Developers explain that you need a PC running Windows 7 and above to unbrick the smartphone.
To begin with, make sure that you switch off your smartphone by holding the volume button, when you plug the phone to the PC. Now the phone should boot into the EDL mode where you can search for new “QDLOADER 9008” entry which will be present under Device Manager.
Now open the correct tool for your smartphone model and select ‘User Type’ as ‘Other’ and then click on the Target button. Finally, press ‘Start’ and now you will notice that the phone is working fine.
He also warns users that they should make sure that they unlock their phone’s bootloader before installing the beta.
Weinbach mentions, “If you want to install this beta, make sure to unlock your phone’s bootloader *before* installing the beta. If you don’t, your phone will not be able to get past the setup process where the device verifies your old Google account for FRP (factory reset protection). Toggling OEM Unlock in developer options disables this check.”
Meanwhile, the smartphone maker has rolled out the OxygenOS 11.2.1.2 update for its most affordable OnePlus 9 series smartphone — OnePlus 9R. The update brings security patches for the month of May and also improvements to the OnePlus Games, Gallery and camera.
You can manually check for the software update by going to Settings> System> System Update> Download and install.
