It has not been a smooth ride for the Pixel 6 series until now; users have reported multiple software bugs and even a few hardware issues since it went on sale last year. Now, it is again in the news for a much more serious issue. Some Pixel 6 series users across the internet are complaining about the black spots that started appearing on their display, and it seems to be growing with time.
One of the Pixel 6 Pro users, Beau Youin, wrote “The screen has developed a black dot that appears to be growing,” on the Google Community page for Pixel phones. As per the user, the smartphone has not been dropped or fallen into water to cause any damage. Youin further complains that Google is not helping much with the situation as it is not letting them call or chat with the support regarding this issue.
As per users, the black dot appears in the centre behind the front camera, while for others, it is on the top-right corner of the phone. This seems to be a case of dead pixels, where the pixels in the display, seem to be spreading across the panel, according to some users. Also, this is more of a hardware issue rather than a software bug. However, for one user, the black dot disappeared as they installed the March security update on the phone.
In case of hardware issues, Pixel owners have no other choice but to reach out to Google and get a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number for a replacement unit.
