pixel: Google 6a announced, the new affordable Pixel series phone – Times of India

Google Pixel 6a is here. Google has launched affordable variant of its flagship smartphone series, Pixel 6. Google launched its Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro phones in October 2021. The Pixel 6 series is Google’s take on ‘ultra-high-end phone’. They are also the first smartphones from the company to be powered by Google’s on the new system on a chip (SoC), Tensor. Now comes brand new addition to the Pixel series, Pixel 6a. Google Pixel 6a succeeds Google 5a that launched in August 2021. Incidentally none of Pixel 5 and Pixel 6 series phones launched in India. Google launched the last Pixel phone, Google Pixel 4a, in India in 2020. Coming back to Pixel 6a, the smartphone shares same processor as its premium siblings Pixel 6 and Pixel 6a.
Google Pixel 6a price and availability
Google Pixel 6A is priced at $449. Thw company so far has not announced global availability of Pixel 6a. It remains to be seen if Google will launch the new affordable Pixel phone in India or not.
Google Pixel 6a specifications
Google Pixel 6a has a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display with 60Hz refresh rate. The screen comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating. Pixel 6a comes in single variant with 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. There’s 4,306mAh battery with support for fast charging. For photos, users get 12.2-megapixel wide-angle and 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera at the back with Sony IMX363 and IMX386 sensors respectively. At the front, there’s an 8-megapixel punch hole camera. Google Pixel 6a will get three years of OS updates and five years of security updates.

What it Pixel 6a has same as premium Pixel 6 phones
Google Pixel 6 runs on the same SoC as its more expensive siblings, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, Tensor. It also has the Titan M2 security chip, an under-display fingerprint sensor. There are also same AI-powered photo features. These includes magic eraser to remove unwanted items on a photo and recoloring items within a photo. There’s also Real Tone and Night Sight for better skin tones and low-light photography. Another common feature is Live Translate.
