Planning a trip to the pub? Unlock a £100 FREE bar tab from Hinge with these simple steps

To celebrate the easing of lockdown restrictions across England and Wales, popular dating app Hinge is offering couples up to £100 towards drinks or a meal out. The promotion, which runs between April 12 and April 18, will award a £50 gift card to each person (up to £100 per couple) to spend a date together. We’ve got the details on how to claim £100 as a couple to spend on free pints, crisps, and G&Ts (provided you’ve got the NHS app loaded up).

To be eligible, you’ll need to have met someone on Hinge and met in-person for a date between April 12 and April 18, 2021. Hinge has a feature, called ‘We Met’, to let the app know when a digital match and chat within the app resulted in a meet-up in the real-world. Once you’ve confirmed that you went out with someone from Hinge between the eligible dates, Hinge will send an email with a £50 gift card to spend towards your next date.

Since both members of the couple can report the meet-up using ‘We Met’, there’s a potential £100 windfall for the next trip to the pub beer garden, restaurant, or – restrictions permitting in a few weeks – cinema, theatre, or other indoor event. Hinge usually uses the information from its ‘We Met’ feature to tailor recommendations in the future. For example, if you went on a date with someone and it didn’t work out, the app adapt when when recommending new people to you.

Beginning Monday April 19, Hinge will start to send out £50 gift cards to those who met the criteria of the promotion. The generous freebies will be awarded on a first-come-first-served basis. Hinge will put the brakes on its gift cards when it has sent out £15,000 worth of free dates – some 300 Hinge users.

Speaking about the new promotion, Hinge’s Director of Relationship Science, Logan Ury, told Express.co.uk: “At Hinge, we’re hearing our users loud and clear: they’re ready to get back out there and date in person again. With this in mind, we expect to see a huge increase in dating this spring as restrictions lift. After more than a year in lockdown, we’re excited to see Hinge users get off the app and onto great dates.”

Research by Hinge shows that around 54 percent of its users spend up to £50 on a first date – hence why the dating app has decided to set its stipend at that amount.

In a recent survey, Hinge found that a majority (88 percent) of its UK-based users had missed in-person dating during the recent lockdown, while 85 percent of users were planning to meet-up for a date as soon as lockdown lifts. With the potential of free dosh on the table, that percentage is likely to only increase.
