Reaching Suryakumar Yadav’s level needs a lot of work: Pakistan’s Mohammad Haris on comparison with Indian batter
By India Today Sports Desk: Pakistan batter Mohammad Haris said that it is too early to compare him with the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and AB de Villiers. Haris is currently captaining Pakistan in the Men’s Emerging Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. In two matches, he has scored 64 runs at an average of 32 with a top score of 55 against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) A on Monday.
“We shouldn’t compare between the two of us just yet, Surya is 32-33 years old. I am still a 22-year-old boy. To reach that stage I still have to put that work in,” Haris was quoted as saying to a local YouTube channel.
“Surya has his own level, De Villiers had his own level and I am my own level well. I want to make a name for myself as a 360-degree cricketer, not use theirs,” he added.
Haris made his international debut for the Pakistan national team back in June 2022. His performance in the international arena has been commendable, earning him a spot in the ODI and T20I squads for series against teams like Australia and the West Indies.
Haris’s career in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been noteworthy. He was signed by Peshawar Zalmi in December 2021 and has since played a crucial role as an opener for the team. In the 2023 PSL, he scored 350 runs in 11 innings, making him one of the top run-getters in the tournament.
As far as Suryakumar is concerned, he has emerged as one of the top Indian batters in T20Is due to his array of strokes all around the world. After making his debut back in 2021, Suryakumar has only grown in stature. He has also been a key player for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
