Reliance Jio announces new video calls feature for smart TVs: All the details – Times of India

Mukesh Ambani-owned telecom company Reliance Jio has announced a new feature for JioFiber users that will enable them to make video calls using their smart TVs. The feature — called ‘camera on mobile’ — enables JioFiber users to use their mobile’s camera as a webcam for making video calls.
How to use the ‘camera on mobile’ feature?
In order to use this feature, smartphone users will be required to download the JioJoin app. This app is available on both Google Play Store as well as Apple App Store. After downloading this, they will then have to configure the 10-digit JioFiber number (Landline number).
JioFiber users can configure landline numbers on up to 6 devices that include smartphones and Jio Set-Top Boxes. In case the user is not home, they will be able to configure parallel ringing on their Jio mobile number so that they don’t miss a call.
The JioFiber Voice ‘camera on mobile’ feature supports ISD calls.
What is JioFiberVoice?
According to Reliance Jio, JioFiberVoice is a differentiated landline calling experience that is different compared to a conventional landline experience.
Smart TV users get Study Mode
Earlier this week, Jio also rolled out another feature for smart TV users to facilitate distraction-free screen time for students to study. The feature — called Study Mode — has been launched for the JioPages web browser.
The Study Mode includes curated videos that are organised class-wise in different tabs. Further, users also get subject wise channel suggestions for every class in this mode. It gives users the option to add subjects as their favourite for quick access. The Study Mode comes with not only quick links for popular education websites as well as a default ad blocker.
The company says that as more and more students are studying from home, it is increasingly becoming challenging for everyone to attend online classes. According to the company, using a smart TV to attend online classes is better than studying through laptops or smartphones as it becomes difficult for parents to continuously monitor the child’s activities on them.
