Rain, gusty wind and cold temperatures made for a challenging second round test in Scotland.

It meant that despite carding a two-over par round of 74 and dropping to four-under overall, Fox moved up one spot into 10th.

The world No 46 balanced three birdies with five bogeys to keep himself in the mix heading into round three.

He was six shots behind leading Englishman Richard Mansell, who produced a stunning four-under par 68 in the torrid conditions to be 10-under for the tournament.

Sweden’s Alex Noren, who shot a three-under par 69, was alone in second at eight-under.
