Samsung, AMD to make Exynos mobile chip for flagship Galaxy phones – Times of India

Samsung and AMD have partnered together to bring RDNA 2 graphics technology for an upcoming Exynos mobile chipset that Samsung may be using for its next flagship Galaxy smartphone. AMD did not reveal much about the chipset but it is expected to offer improved GPU performance in Samsung flagship phones. The announcement was made at Computex Taipei.
AMD has also announced its Radeon RX 6000M Series mobile graphic built on AMD RDNA 2 gaming architecture. AMD claims to deliver up to 1.5X higher performance or up to 43% lower power at the same performance level compared to AMD RDNA architecture. They also bring advanced technologies such as AMD Infinity Cache and DirectX Raytracing (DXR) to next-gen laptops.
Samsung’s next Exynos SoC will also offer “ray tracing and variable rate shading capabilities”.
At Computex, AMD also introduced the AMD Advantage Design Framework, the result of a multi-year collaboration between AMD and its global PC partners to deliver the next generation of high-performance gaming laptops.
“Combining AMD Radeon RX 6000M Series Mobile Graphics, AMD Radeon Software and AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Mobile Processors with exclusive AMD smart technologies and other advanced system design characteristics, AMD Advantage systems are designed to deliver best-in-class gaming experiences. The first AMD Advantage laptops are expected to be available from leading OEMs beginning this month,” said the company in a press release.
