Samsung Galaxy S23 series to be the first to use Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 – Times of India

We are just a few days away from the flagship launch event of Samsung. The South Korean smartphone maker is all set to launch its Galaxy S23 series of smartphones on February 1 at the company’s first Galaxy Unpacked event. Samsung will launch three smartphones in the Galaxy S23 series — Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Now ahead of the official launch, Corning has confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy S23 series smartphones will be the first to sport the new Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on top.
Corning has confirmed that Samsung will use the new Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the Galaxy S23 series smartphones. The company claims that Gorilla Glass Victus 2’s new glass composition delivers improved drop performance on rough surfaces like concrete while preserving the scratch resistance of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

“Today’s consumers expect damage-resistant smartphone displays. For more than a decade, Gorilla Glass has met the needs of smartphone users, setting the standard for tough cover materials. We are proud to continue our long partnership with Samsung and have our latest innovations play a vital role in Samsung’s newest Galaxy smartphones”, said David Velasquez, vice president and general manager, Corning.
Gorilla Glass Victus 2 was launched last year in November. The company mentions that the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 puts a focus on the environment and has achieved an Environmental Claim Validation for containing an average of 22% pre-consumer recycled content, as validated by Underwriters Laboratories (UL).
“We’re committed to integrating sustainability throughout our product lifecycle, working with like-minded partners such as Corning to improve performance while reducing our environmental impact,” said Stephanie Choi, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Mobile experience Business, Samsung Electronics.
