Shares of Tata Motors(up 2.61 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 1.97 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.61 per cent), MRF(up 1.0 per cent) and Exide Industries(up 0.62 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, TIINDIA(down 3.71 per cent), Eicher Motors(down 0.96 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 0.81 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 0.69 per cent) and Bajaj Auto(down 0.69 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.42 per cent up at 10641.15.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 159.2 points at 17691.25, while the BSE Sensex stood up 533.74 points at 59299.32.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 ended in the green, while 13 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, NALCO, Tata Power, YES Bank and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Sirca Paints, Alkali Metals, Patel Eng, India Glycols and Maharashtra Seam. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Supreme Engineering, Jiya Eco Products Lt, Inventure Grwth, Krsnaa Diagnostics Ltd. and Metalyst Forgings hit their fresh 52-week lows.
