Television celebs talk about what Navratri means to them and how they celebrate

Childhood days

Salim Diwan

When I was kid, I used to play garba and dandiya with my friends all night, and forget about everything else. That childhood memory comes to my mind every Navratri, as it was awesome. I don’t fast during Navratri, but I prefer wearing nine different colours of attire for nine days.

Yummy food

During Navratri, there are pandals set up at different places, and you can hear the loud speakers chanting all the mantras. There are days when we go out with the family to pandals as they serve yummy khichdi.

Changed scenario

Things have definitely changed because of the pandemic, so it is definitely not the same. I fast on the last day. That’s what I have been doing since childhood.

Memory lane

Navratri is a very special occasion, as I have grown up watching my parents fast for all the nine days. Since childhood, I have seen my parents worshipping Maa Durga, and I used to keep a fast on the first and the last day of Navratri. My fondest memory is visiting people’s houses for the Naukanya Pujan, getting gifts, and collecting money.

Riot of colour

Bhavika Sharma

Navratri is a terrific opportunity to play garba and dandiya every year. I have always been excited about this festival because I used to get a chance to do garba with friends and family. I love dressing up in different colours during Navratri.

Dance fan

Aashay Mishra

Navratri has always been about singing aartis, garba and long-lasting competition with my siblings. During Navratri, I am extra charged up as I love dancing, and when it comes to grooving to folk songs, I am always up for it. I have a bunch of friends who are as enthusiastic as I am and are my dandiya night partners. This year, I hope that Goddess Durga showers all her blessings on all of you.
