This ‘Desh Ka Smartphone’ from Xiaomi is the ‘highest-selling Android phone’ of Q1, 2021 – Times of India

Xiaomi Redmi 9A was the highest-selling Android smartphone during the first three months of this year (Q1-2021), according to Counterpoint Research Global Handset Model Tracker. The Xiaomi smartphone tops the volume list during the quarter, while the revenue list is led by Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G. The Xiaomi Redmi 9A smartphone launched in India last year with the tagline ‘Desh Ka Smartphone’.
No guesses that unlike the revenue list, the volume list features devices from the affordable segment. “The volumes for the Redmi 9A were driven by its strong performance in China and India, while the Redmi 9 performed well in the South East Asian market. The strong performance of the Redmi 9A, Redmi 9 and Redmi Note 9 helped Xiaomi maintain its pole position in the sub-$150 price band globally, capturing a 19% share in the segment,” says the Counterpoint Research.

Xiaomi launched Redmi 9A in India in September 2020 at Rs 6,999 for 2GB+32GB RAM/storage variant and Rs 7,499 for the 3GB+32GB option. Redmi 9A runs on MediaTek Helio G25 octa-core processor with 8X Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. It has 6.53-inch HD+ TFT-IPS display. It has 5000mAh battery and comes with 10W fast charger in the box. It has 13MP rear camera with F2.2 aperture. There’s 5MP camera in the front for video calls and selfies. The dual-SIM phone has 2+1 Dedicated SIM card slots (nano SIM + nano SIM + microSD up to 512GB). It supports 4G/3G/2G.

The following Xiaomi smartphone Redmi 9 is priced at Rs 8,799 onwards. It runs on MediaTek Helio G35 octa-core CPU, clocked at up to 2.3GHz, 8x A53. Comes in two options based on RAM and storage capacity” 4GB+64GB and 4GB+128GB. Redmi 9 sports 6.53-inch HD+ Dot Drop display with 20:9 aspect ratio. For photos users get 13MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture, 2MP depth sensor, f/2.4 aperture Phase detection auto focus, HDR, AI portrait mode, Face recognition, AI Beautify 5.0, AI scene detection and Single tone flash. Front camera is 5MP. It packs 5000mAh battery with 10W charge support.
