This popular banned app is copying a feature from Instagram – Times of India

The most-downloaded app TikTok is all set to get a new feature. TikTok is working on a new Instagram-like feature called ‘Photo Mode’. Photo Mode allows you to share carousel posts of still images that automatically display one after another. You can add music to soundtrack the images, which viewers can swipe through at their own pace.
Along with this, the feature will also enable users to pair their videos and content made in Photo Mode with longer descriptions, up to 2,200 characters for each post. “We know that there are all kinds of formats people use to express themselves on TikTok, and we’ll continue building experiences that empower them to create in all kinds of ways – from videos to LIVEs, photos, text, and more,” TikTok said in a statement.
The new photo posts which can also feature music will appear on the user’s ‘For You’ page along with the videos. TikTok believes that the extended character count combined with the Photo Mode will enable creators to express themselves in a better manner.
A report by Mashable suggests that many TikTok creators have already started using the feature. The creators are sharing recycled text memes and other content on the TikTok app which is popular on its rival Instagram.
Recently, an online report suggested that the short-form video app TikTok continued its reign as the top-grossing non-game app worldwide across the App Store and Google Play combined. TikTok saw approximately $914.4 million in consumer spending this quarter, bringing its lifetime total to roughly $6.3 billion, according to the report.
