Notice: amp_is_available was called incorrectly. `amp_is_available()` (or `amp_is_request()`, formerly `is_amp_endpoint()`) was called too early and so it will not work properly. WordPress is currently doing the `pre_get_posts` hook. Calling this function before the `wp` action means it will not have access to `WP_Query` and the queried object to determine if it is an AMP response, thus neither the `amp_skip_post()` filter nor the AMP enabled toggle will be considered. It appears the theme with slug `publisher` is responsible; please contact the author. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. UP board class 10 exam cancelled, class 12 proposed in July – Times of India

LUCKNOW: Taking cue from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the UP government on Saturday decided to cancel the UP board class 10 exams amid the rising Covid-19 cases. The government also proposed to hold the UP board class 12 exams in the second week of July provided the situation is under control. In the interest of students, the government also decided to promote all students from classes 6 to 8, 9, and 11, irrespective of any board.

Making the announcement deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma said, the cancellation of class 10 exams has impacted more than 29.9 lakh students who had registered this year. The UP Secondary Education Board (UPSEB) has been asked to prepare a framework for promotion of class 10 students to the next class. The UPSEB has recently sought marks of half-yearly and pre-board exams of class 10 students.

Noting the importance of class 12 exams for future of students, Sharma said, the exams will be held keeping in mind the safety, security and convenience of students while maintaining the Covid protocols, in the second week of July. Over 26.1 lakh candidates had registered for class 12 exams this year.

In a statement, Sharma said, the time duration for class 12 exams is reduced to half, from earlier 3 hours to 1.5 hours this time. Also, unlike previous years when students’ answered any five questions out of 10, this year, relaxation has been given to answer any three questions of their choice, out of 10.

To ensure social distancing among students, the government will increase the number of examination centres. The exams, like previous years, will be held over a span of 15 days, he added. A time-table for the proposed examination will shortly be released by the UPSEB. Earlier the UP board class 10 and 12 exams were to begin from April 24 but were rescheduled from May 8 due to the panchayat polls.

The government, in the larger interest of students, also decided to promote all students from class 6 to 8, 9 and 11, irrespective of any board, to the next class. Sharma said, class 9 or 11 students who took the annual exams will be promoted on the basis of yearly exams. In schools where the annual exams are still due, students will be promoted based on internal evaluation. Sharma said, in the absence of any assessment criteria, all students should be promoted in a common manner.

The government has fixed the responsibility of district inspector of schools (DIOS) to ensure compliance. In case of rules being flouted, parents can lodge complaints before the regulatory committee instituted in each district.
