Vodafone-Idea partners Motorola for 5G connectivity – Times of India

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has partnered with Motorola to ensure seamless 5G connectivity across its fifth-generation smartphone portfolio, according to a statement. The announcement comes within days of Vodafone Idea getting a shot in the arm, with the government clearing conversion of the troubled telco’s accumulated interest dues worth Rs 16,000 crore into equity.
“To further accelerate the development of the 5G ecosystem in the nation, Vi has partnered with Motorola to ensure seamless 5G connectivity across its extensive 5G smartphone portfolio,” the two companies said in a statement on Monday.

The statement added: “With the association, Motorola has successfully tested its latest and most popular smartphone models on 3350 to 3400 MHz spectrum bands on Vi 5G network in New Delhi.”
Vi committed towards Digital India ‘dream,’ says CMO
Vi CMO Avneesh Khosla said, “Vi remains committed to playing a significant role in realizing the Digital India dream. We are happy to partner with Motorola in one more step towards our 5G roll out. We believe that the partnership will help develop the 5G device ecosystem, helping more Vi customers upgrade to a superior 5G ready smartphone in time for service roll out.”

While it prepares for its 5G launch in the country, Vi introduced a new entry-level plan recently. A week ago, it rolled out its cheapest recharge plan that costs Rs 99. The benefits in this offer include talktime worth Rs 99 and 200MB data valid for a period of 28 days. Moreover, the telco also revealed it will start charging 2.5 paise per second for calls. About the new plan, the company had said, “This will not just drive inclusivity but also enable more users to enter the digital bandwagon.”
