WhatsApp to add business accounts in 5 minutes with new APIs – Times of India
WhatsApp at Facebook F8 Refresh developers conference announced updated APIs for WhatsApp Business that will make it quicker for businesses to start a WhatsApp Business account and for people to easily chat with businesses.
“We’ve cut down the time it takes for businesses to get up and running from weeks to just five minutes. Whether a business wants to work with a business solution provider or get support directly from Facebook in the future, these improvements will make it easier for more medium and larger businesses to have customer conversations on WhatsApp,” the company said in an official release.
WhatsApp has also rolled out new messaging features like a new list messages that present a menu of up to 10 options so people no longer need to type out a response. Reply buttons will allow people to quickly make a selection from up to three options with a quick tap.
“People still need to reach out to start a conversation or request a business contact via WhatsApp. With these updates, we’re also providing new ways for people to give greater feedback about the experience they are having if they have a reason to block a business,” it added.
Meanwhile, for regular WhatsApp users, the Facebook-owned messaging app has said that it will not limit functionality for those users who still haven’t accepted the new terms and conditions. In a statement to The Verge, a WhatsApp spokesperson said, “Given recent discussions with various authorities and privacy experts, we want to make clear that we will not limit the functionality of how WhatsApp works for those who have not yet accepted the update.” The spokesperson also said that this is something WhatsApp intends to stick with.
