WhatsApp web users get new ‘controls’ for voice messages – Times of India

Instant messaging app WhatsApp recently started offering the support to alter the playback speed of a voice message sent on its Android app. The same is now being enabled for those who use the desktop version of WhatsApp.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the web and desktop version of WhatsApp now support the playback speed adjustment feature.
WhatsApp web users can check if this feature is activated for them or not by simply playing a voice message. If this feature has been enabled for them, they will be able to see a playback speed symbol.
With this feature, besides being able to play audio messages at standard 1X speed, WhatsApp users will be able to play audio files at 1.5X or 2X speeds.
The feature was first made available to Android beta users of WhatsApp, however, it is expected to be rolled out to non-beta users soon too. Further, iOS users are also likely to get support for the same soon.
Recently, WhatsApp was spotted working on a feature — called Flash Call — that will allow users to automatically verify their phone number when they try to log into WhatsApp.
The Flash Call feature will require user’s permission to access their phone’s call log, after which, it will automatically verify if they have received the call to give access to their WhatsApp account.
There have been incidents where WhatsApp users lost access to their accounts after they shared a six-digit verification code received on the platform with someone claiming to be from the company. The Flash Call feature will certainly reduce the risk of such frauds.
