Tunisia’s Ons Jaebur has made her way through to the Round of 16 in the 2022 edition of Wimbledon. On Friday, July 1, she defeated France’s Diane Parry 6-2, 6-3 in straight sets.

The third seed stormed into a 4-0 lead in the first set, not allowing her opponent to settle into a rhythm. Parry tried to hit back, but by then it was way too late for her.

In the second set, Parry came out all guns blazing and made it 2-2, making Jabeur fight hard for the victory. But the Tunisian star showed nerves of steel and made a comeback.

Jabeur was clinical in her approach as she pulled out four aces and didn’t make a single double fault. She won a stunning 86 percent of their first serve points and also won five out of 14 break points against her opponent.

At one point in time, Jabeur looked in complete command after she secured 14 points in a row. Jabueur had a disappointing outing in the French Open 2022 at Roland Garros, but she has been able to make some amends at SW19.

In another match, 22-year-old Jule Niemeir defeated Ukraine’s Lesia Tsurenko 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 on Court 18. Niemeir won 11 out of 12 break points against her opponent and made Tsurenko sweat for every other point.

Niemeir will play her Round of 16 match against an undecided opponent on Sunday, July 3. Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko defeated Romania’s Irina-Camelia Begu 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 and advanced to the fourth round.
