Windows 10 alert: Your PC could be at risk if you switch to Windows 11

But before you get too excited, it seems this way of installing Windows 11 comes with one big catch with Microsoft saying that anyone using this method is unlikely to get any future updates or security patches.

The thought of not receiving any of the latest updates to protect against new threats sounds pretty scary as it could leave PCs open to attack from hackers.

So, although some might be tempted, the best way to get Windows 11 is still via the official upgrade option in the Settings menu and that means owning a compatible PC.

In a post on its Windows 11 page, Microsoft says: “If your device does not meet the requirements, you may not be able to install Windows 11 on your device and might want to consider purchasing a new PC. If you are unsure whether your PC meets these requirements, you can check with your PC Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or, if your device is already running Windows 10, you can use the PC Health Check app to assess compatibility.”
