Microsoft announced iCloud Photos integration to Windows 11’s updated Photos app. The iCloud Photos integration, according to the company, will allow users to access photos that are stored in iCloud directly into Windows 11 default gallery app.
Soon after the Surface event, Microsoft started testing the new iCloud photos integration with a select group of Windows 11 users. According to the official blog post, the company has started rolling out an update to the Photos app (version 2022.31100.9001.0) to the users.
Who will get the feature first
Currently, the updated Photos app is rolling out in the Windows Insider Preview Dev channel. So, users who’ve enrolled in Microsoft’s testing program and have selected the Dev channel will be able to give the iCloud integration a try and check out the features.
How you can get iCloud integration right now
As mentioned, the iCloud integration is currently available for Dev Channel Windows Insider Preview users only. To get iCloud integration right now, follow these steps:
Enrol on Windows Insider Program
Choose Dev Channel during the process
Restart your PC and wait for the update to arrive
Once you’ve updated your PC with the Insider build of Windows 11, update the Photos app from App Store.
New features iCloud integration will bring
Windows 11 users with iCloud integration will be able to view, organise and share iCloud photos from their PC. The iCloud photos will be available in the ‘All Photos’ section and within the dedicated iCloud Photos tab in the Photos app. All you’ll need to do is download the iCloud app from Windows Store and log in using iCloud login credentials.
