World Milk Day 2021: Significance, History And 5 Milk-Based Recipes That Never Fail To Impress

Milk is considered as a complete meal, thanks to its rich nutrient-profile. It is loaded with protein, Vitamin A, B1, B2, B12, and D, potassium, antioxidants, and more; therefore, doctors and health experts recommend adding milk to our daily diet. To recognise the importance of milk, June 1 is marked as the World Milk Day every year. This campaign was initiated by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations in 2001, making 2021 the 21st year of the celebration. As per the official website of World Milk Day, this day recognises “the importance of milk as a global food, and to celebrate the dairy sector.”

World Milk Day 2021: History And Significance:

Initiated in 2001, FAO chose June 1 as the day, because several countries were already celebrating National Milk Day around this time of the year. According to the official website of FAO, this particular day gives an opportunity to focus on the importance of milk. World Milk Day also helps publicise the dairy industry and how it supports livelihood of one billion people across the world. “The fact that many countries choose to do this on the same day lends additional importance to individual national celebrations and shows that milk is a global food,” it further read.
