Xbox Cloud Gaming Will Apparently Start Supporting Keyboard & Mouse Soon

Xbox Cloud Gaming is currently available across a wide variety of platforms, allowing gamers to enjoy their favorite titles without forcing them to have a gaming PC or console, but the fact that it only works with a controller on PC might be a little bit annoying for those who don’t either own a controller or don’t like playing with a controller.

Hopefully, it seems like that will no longer be an issue for the PC users of Cloud Gaming as Microsoft is trying to add keyboard and mouse support for a select number of games on the service.

As spotted by a user and shared on Twitter, Microsoft has added a new Mouse icon in the Cloud Gaming tab of the Xbox App on PC. This new icon is actually a filter that showcases the games that can be played by keyboard and mouse while using the Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Keyboard and mouse support for Xbox consoles is one of the long-running projects at Microsoft, that was supposed to be available in the last generation of consoles for Xbox One, but even with the arrival of Xbox Series X|S, the keyboard and mouse support has not been fully launched for the consoles.

It is yet to be known whether this is a complex hardware issue or not, but maybe Microsoft is seeking to add the keyboard and mouse support to all platforms using Cloud Gaming for now. That said, the new mouse filter is only available for the PC version of Cloud Gaming for now, but we will probably hear more about this in the near future officially.

Keep in mind that this new keyboard and mouse icon is apparently available in select regions, as I couldn’t find it in my Xbox App on PC.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is a part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription at the moment, but Microsoft recently started to add some new free-to-play games to the service as well, including Epic Games’ Fortnite which is available for free on Xbox Cloud Gaming with no need for purchasing any subscription service.

Next week, Xbox will be present at the Gamescom 2022 showcase, and we will probably hear more about the company’s upcoming games as well as the new projects for expanding and improving its services.
