PC Game Pass Twitter account recently changed its profile picture background to a landscape that appears to be picked from Death Stranding, but what does this mean?
Knowing that Gamescom’s Opening Night Live is less than a week away, there are many big surprises ahead. Xbox will have its own booth at the Gamescom expo in Germany, and the console holder is expected to have some surprise premieres at the Opening Night Live showcase as well.
Now, the profile picture of the PC Game Pass Twitter account recently changed, and the new profile reflects a place in the world of Death Stranding, which was soon identified by a number of players. This already started the speculation around the addition of Death Stranding to PC Game Pass in the near future, which could be an Opening Night Live announcement. But is it really possible?
As the debut game of Kojima Productions, Death Stranding was the first title by Kojima with almost no ties with the Metal Gear franchise. The game was launched as a PlayStation console exclusive, with Sony owning the IP rights. However, due to a complex contract between Kojima Productions and Sony, the PC version of the game was somehow published by 505 Games instead of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
This clearly indicates that the publishing rights of the PC version of Death Stranding are owned by 505 Games, which allows the company to publish the game on any PC platform that it desires. Regarding the fact that PC Game Pass is also a platform on PC, after all, it is technically possible that Death Stranding gets published on Microsoft’s subscription service, unless the contract between Sony, Kojima Productions, and 505 Games blocks such action.
Back in June 2022, Kojima appeared in the Microsoft and Bethesda showcase revealing that he is working with the Xbox on an upcoming project. This is already proof that Microsoft and Kojima Productions are close enough to agree on having Death Stranding on PC Game Pass.
Also, Hideo Kojima recently teased he was editing a video, which was assumed to be the trailer of his next game at the time. But it could also be a new trailer for Death Stranding that announces its arrival on PC Game Pass.
Without a doubt, there is currently no official evidence on the arrival of Death Standing on PC Game Pass, which means you should take it with a grain of salt and wait for official news.
