Yelich leads Brewers’ power surge in 7-4 win over Arizona
Brent Suter (6-3) struck out three in 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief after Brewers starter Brett Anderson allowed eight hits and three runs in 4 1/3 innings. Josh Hader struck out the side in the ninth for his 13th save in as many chances.
Anderson was ejected after the Brewers had already removed him from the game. He had been complaining about home plate umpire Edwin Moscoso’s strike zone.
“I was frustrated about not getting ahead, then a couple pitches that weren’t called strikes,” Anderson said. “If they’re not getting called, they can sit on one side of the plate, and my stuff isn’t good enough to do that.”
DUPLANTIER DISCUSSES BRENLY
Arizona pitcher Jon Duplantier used part of his postgame Zoom session to discuss his disappointment with Diamondbacks broadcaster Bob Brenly’s Tuesday comment about New York Mets pitcher Marcus Stroman’s head covering.
Stroman said the comment had racist undertones.
“The most disappointing part is that, though there has been a ton of progress and work done so that I, Marcus and other guys that look like me can show up as authentically as ourselves and be our selves in a big stage, comments like the one that was made, they put us back,” Duplantier said. “They put that progress back.”
