Youtube Music: This new YouTube Music bug is affecting some users, here’s how – Times of India

Google’s dedicated music streaming platform, YouTube Music allows users to browse songs and music videos based on genres, playlists, and recommendations. According to a report by 9to5Google, the latest YouTube Music bug is affecting some mobile app users. This new bug is clipping the album cover art on the Now Playing screen for both Android and iOS users.
How is this bug affecting YouTube Music users
The album cover art should appear in a square format on the Now Playing screen. However, some users have reported that the artwork of certain songs are appearing as a rectangle with colour borders to the left and right. For this bug, the artwork is reportedly looking similar to the thumbnail that users can see in the main YouTube app while watching an audio-only song with no visuals.
Apart from this, the Now Playing area’s themed background is also supposed to match the art. Affected users have complained that this bug is also not triggering this effect in the Now Playing screen.
The report notes that this is not a widespread issue. However, users have reportedly started complaining about the bug starting to surface last week. However, this bug is not affecting pseudo-letterboxing and isn’t impacting the Android 13 media notification.

This cover art bug seems to be a result of the latest server-side update, the report notes. This artwork appears on YouTube Music for both Android and iOS users. However, the minor bug has reportedly not impacted but it still looks virtually unpleasant.
The problem seems to be related to the mini-player and is making it hard for users to identify what they are listening to at a glance. Google is expected to roll out a fix to squash this bug.
Recently, Google has also rolled out some new features which are exclusive to YouTube’s premium users. The company has introduced iOS SharePlay support on YouTube which will be available only for Premium users.
